Instrumentation is often invisible on campus compared to CSE/ECE hype, so students assume the branch is "niche = unemployable." Plants, oil & gas, pharma, and automation vendors hire ICE grads who can talk sensors, calibration, control loops, and P&IDs with examples. A DCS/PLC lab dump without what you tuned is forgettable; a loop you commissioned or a measurement error you diagnosed is memorable. Software skills help; they don't replace domain proof. Make the plant-facing work visible and the niche becomes an advantage.
