Production Engineering gets insulted as "failed Mechanical," which makes students defensive or aimless. Manufacturing companies specifically need process, tooling, planning, and shop-floor improvement skills — that's the point of the branch. A résumé competing only on Mech CAD without manufacturing metrics misses your edge; a process capability study, fixture design, or line-balancing project you ran is on-brief. Software/ops analytics can pair with this foundation, but don't erase production proof. Own the manufacturing story; stop treating the degree as a downgrade.
