The confusion, addressed honestly
Most CSE students treat campus service-company SDE as the only "real" outcome — and panic if they miss that shortlist. That anxiety is understandable, but incomplete: product companies, startups, and specialist tracks (platform, data, security) hire from the same branch when the resume shows ownership, not just "solved 300 LeetCode." A deployed side project with users or metrics, a meaningful internship write-up, or one systems story you can defend in an interview usually beats a higher CGPA with tutorial repos. Mass-placement prep still helps for volume hiring; it doesn't define your ceiling. What changes outcomes is proof you shipped and debugged something real — the branch name is already assumed.
